Baseball America Tabs Reb Recruits 12th Nationally
10/20/2009 University of Mississippi
OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebels' 2009 recruiting class was ranked as the 12th best class in the nation by Baseball America when the publication announced its annual rankings on Tuesday, marking the second publication to tab the class as one of the tops in the nation this fall.

Collegiate Baseball also tabbed the Rebels' recruiting class as one of the top 25 recruiting classes in the nation earlier this year. It marks the seventh recruiting class under head coach Mike Bianco to be ranked nationally.

This is the third straight year the Rebels have had a recruiting class ranked in the top 15 nationally by Baseball America as Ole Miss was ranked 11th by the publication a year ago and 14th in 2007.

The Rebels are the third highest ranked class in the Southeastern Conference.

"We signed another good class this year with several impact players," said Ole Miss assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Rob Reinstetle. "We have several young freshmen who should prove to be great additions to the program over the course of the next couple of seasons. We also signed some impact junior college transfers who should come in and make immediate contributions."

The 2009 recruiting class for the Rebels features 15 newcomers, including eight freshmen and seven junior college transfers. Four-year transfers were not considered for BA's rankings, except when players are leaving programs that have been eliminated.

Ole Miss opens the 2010 season on February 19, when the Rebels will play host to Louisiana-Monroe in a three-game series at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
