Rebel Golfers Finish Fourth At David Toms
10/27/2009 University of Mississippi

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Ole Miss men's golf team finally put it all together in the last tournament of the fall, shooting a 3-under 849 at the David Toms Intercollegiate to finish fourth, their best showing of the year.

The Rebels 286-280-283-849 marks their lowest three-round total of the fall.  Only five shots separated the top four, with host LSU winning with a total of 844.  Kent State and North Florida tied for second at 845.

Ole Miss was able to get it done with three players finishing under par for the tournament.  Junior Jonathan Randolph led the way with a 4-under 209.   He opened with a 67 and finished with a 69 with a 73 sandwiched in between.  The 209 equals Randolph's best three round total as a Rebel.  It marked the Brandon native's ninth career top 10 and third top 10 of the year in five tournaments.

Greenville native Billy Brozovich earned his best finish as a Rebel, tying for 11th with a career-low 2-under 211.   The sophomore carded rounds of 69, 70 and 72.  Sophomore Joe David also posted a 211 powered by a second-round career-best 66.

"I am really proud of our team today," head coach Ernest Ross said.  "We tried really hard to save every stroke.  We did a much better job of minimizing mistakes.  I am proud that we had three players finish under par for the tournament. We gained a good bit of confidence in our last tournament of the fall."

The Rebels will have a few months off to work on individual areas of their games before returning to the links Feb. 13-14 at the Gator Invitational.
