9:49 PM: And we're final at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss wins 38-14. Everyone have a nice evening. This blogger is out.
9:32 PM: Not a whole lot going on here. The teams have traded punts back and forth. Ole Miss is taking over on offense at its own 21 yard line with 7:11 left in the game. The score remains 38-14.
9:22 PM: Nathan Stanley has taken over under center for the Rebels and throws a nice pass down the left sideline where Pat Patterson makes a beautiful catch for a 29-yard gain. On the next play, Enrique Davis fumbles, but Coach Nutt challenges the call and it is reversed. Ole Miss keeps the ball just inside the NAU half of the field.
9:15 PM: Northern Arizona tees up for another field goal, a 33-yarder by Matt Myers, and Ole Miss gets it second blocked field goal of the game, this time by Kentrell Lockett. It's Lockett's first block since the one that propelled the Rebels to a win at Florida last year.
9:13 PM: To answer Wendy's question, and anyone else who might be wondering, today's game does not count towards Ole Miss' bowl eligibility, even though it would be the sixth win on the season. This is because Northern Arizona is the second FCS opponent, and only one counts toward bowl eligibility. The Rebels will have three more chances to become bowl eligible, in the next three games vs. Tennessee, LSU and Mississippi State.
9:09 PM: Rebs still lead 38-14 as we head to the fourth quarter.
9:02 PM: After a nice drive, NAU stalls on 4th and 13 and tries a 35-yard field goal, but Kendrick Lewis blocks it and the Rebels take over with one minute left in the 3rd quarter.
8:54 PM: Snead hits Hodge on a streak down the left sideline for a 65-yard touchdown to give Ole Miss a commanding 38-14 lead with 5:45 left in the 3rd quarter. Hodge now has seven catches for a career-high 169 yards and two TDs in the game. It's his second-straight 100-yard receiving game and he now has 20 career TD catches.
8:35 PM: Ole Miss starts the second half on offense and is forced to punt. Today's attendance for the Division I FCS opponent is 38,184.
8:20 PM: Some stats of note at the half: Bolden has 10 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Snead is 13-of-22 for 137 yards and a TD, as well as two rushing TDs. Hodge has four catches for 71 yards and a touch. Ole Miss is out-rushing Northern Arizona 115-53, but NAU has the edge in passing with 163 yards to 137. The Rebels are an impressive 5-of-7 in 3rd down conversions.
8:12 PM: Joshua Shene nails a 38-yard field goal as time expires to give Ole Miss a 31-14 halftime advantage.
7:56 PM: After forcing NAU to punt, Marshay Green gave the Rebels good field position with a 14-yard punt return, and the offense responded by driving it right down the field and tacking on six more points with a QB sneak by Snead. Snead has tied a career high with a pair of rushing scores and now has three in his last three games. Ole Miss leads 28-14 with under 3 minutes left in the half.
7:45 PM: Snead takes a bootleg to the left and sprints three yards into the endzone as the Rebels regain the lead at 21-14 after a Shene PAT. Snead also connected on a big 38-yard pass play with Hodge on the drive. 5:46 left in the 2nd quarter.
7:37 PM: Northern Arizona continues to impress with its wide-open offense and ties up the score at 14-14 on another Alex Henderson TD run from five yards out. The big play of the drive was a 57-yard pass from Herrick to Conrad Meadows, who had burnt the Rebel defense. It's 14-14 with just under eight minutes left in the first half.
7:27 PM: The Rebels answer right back on a huge run by Brandon Bolden. He took the handoff, broke four tackles around the line of scrimmage and raced 45 yards past the entire Lumberjack defense to paydirt along the left sideline. Shene added the PAT and the Rebels lead 14-7 with 10:36 left in the first half.
7:20 PM: The Lumberjacks ride the arm of Michael Herrick for an 11-play, 80-yard scoring drive capped by running back Alex Henderson's 5-yard TD run off the right edge. The score is 7-7 with 12:19 left in the first half.
7:12 PM: Northern Arizona has put together its first solid drive of the game following Tyler Campbell's punt that would have been downed inside the 5 but was knocked into the endzone off a Rebel player's leg. The Lumberjacks face a 4th and 2 around the Rebels' 40-yard line at the end of the first quarter. Rebs still lead 7-0.
7:04 PM: There have been a lot of upsets around the country today (Northwestern over Iowa, Navy over Notre Dame, Stanford over Oregon, Ohio State over Penn State), but things around the SEC have been fairly predictable with most league schools entertaining non-conference foes today. The big matchup of the day saw Alabama stay undefeated with a 24-15 victory over LSU in a battle of top-10 teams in Tuscaloosa.
6:42 PM: Jevan Snead tosses a six-yard TD pass to Shay Hodge and the Rebels taks an early 7-0 lead (following Joshua Shene's PAT). It was Hodge's 19th career touchdown catch, which is five behind Chris Collins for the all-time Rebel record. Hodge now has five TD catches this year.
6:38 PM: Former Ole Miss quarterback Michael Herrick is behind center for the Lumberjacks and has his pass intercepted on the first offensive play of the game, as DE Marcus Tillman drops back into coverage and picks off a play in the right flat. Ole Miss takes over possession inside the 20.
6:35 PM: Tonight's Hotty Toddy was performed by Ole Miss tennis national champion Devin Britton, who is now in the professional ranks.
6:33 PM: Captains for the Rebels tonight are Marcus Tillman, Daverin Gerald, Marshay Green and Kendrick Lewis. Northern Arizona won the toss and will receive the opening kickoff.
6:32 PM: "The Pride of the South" band has gone through pre-game festivities and we've had a nice rendition of the national anthem by Paul Campbell. Now the Rebels are charging onto the field, ready for another great night of football at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
5:50 PM: The Rebels are warming up in their navy jerseys as they prepare for tonight's game against the Lumberjacks. It's a beautiful 63-degree evening in Oxford. Everyone here in the press box is glued to the TV right now for the end of the LSU-Alabama game. A reminder this weekend to mention the Nutts when you order Papa Johns in Oxford and a portion of sales will go to the Boys & Girls Club.
