OXFORD, Miss. -  Ole Miss senior defensive lineman Greg Hardy, a native of Millington, Tenn., will miss the remainder of the season with a fractured left wrist, head coach Houston Nutt announced on Wednesday.

“It’s really unfortunate for Greg,” Nutt said. “The bone is cracked. He tried to play through it last week. He’s had some awfully bad luck. He’s done for the season. When he’s healthy, he can be disruptive. Our problem is we never really had him healthy for a long period of time. We wish Greg all the best in the future."

Hardy, who has 26.5 career QB sacks and leads the Rebels with 5.0 sacks this season, aggravated a prior injury during last Saturday’s game against Northern Arizona.

“He took a hit on Saturday that aggravated the injury,” said Ole Miss football head athletic trainer Tim Mullins. “We X-rayed his wrist and saw the fracture. He tried to practice with it, but felt like surgery was the best option.”

Hardy will undergo surgery on Thursday in Jackson and have a pin placed in the wrist, according to Mullins.
