Diamond Rebs Ink Pair Of Tennessee Standouts
11/18/2009 University of Mississippi

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss continued to add to its signing class with the signing of Nathan Foriest and Preston Overbey to the class of 2010, head coach Mike Bianco announced on Wednesday.

The pair of signees from the Volunteer State join previously announced signees Will Allen, Austin Anderson, Ryan Bolden, Casey Greene, Austin Hartzog, Jimel Judon, Casey Mulholland, Mike Mayers and Bobby Wahl.

"This group is part of a very talented class that we're bringing to Ole Miss," said assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Rob Reinstetle. "We feel this is one of the best classes ever to sign here. We have several players ranked in the top 100 nationally by publications and have filled our needs with some young talented position players and some top quality arms who will all make an impact early. We feel we are setting ourselves up for future runs to Omaha and the College World Series."

Foriest, a 6-3 left-handed pitcher, comes to Ole Miss from Harpeth High School in Kingston Springs, Tenn. Foriest posted a  2.00 ERA in his junior season and pitched two no-hitters and a pair one-hitters in the regional showcase games. He also was selected to play for the Southeast team in the Area Code Showcase Tournament in California.

The left-hander also plays on the football team at Harpeth, playing middle linebacker and wide receiver.

"Nathan is a talented lefty from the Nashville area," Reinstetle said. "He throws his fastball in the 88-92 range and has a power slider and a good change up. We look forward to getting him to campus and what he can add to our pitching staff."

Foriest chose Ole Miss over LSU, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Overbey, a 6-3 third baseman, comes to the Rebels from University School of Jackson in Jackson, Tenn. The infielder was named one of the top 150 recruits nationally by PerfectGame and Baseball America, after helping USJ to the District 14 Class 2A Championship and winning the District 14 Class 2A Tournament.

Overbey was named an All-District selection as well as being named to the All-Tournament team. He helped USJ to a runner-up finish in the 2007 State Tournament and helped the school to its ninth state tournament appearance in 2008.

"Preston is a strong, physical player that can play anywhere on the field," Reinstetle said. "His bat is his biggest asset. He hits for both power and average. We're excited about getting him to campus and getting him into the lineup."

Overbey selected Ole Miss over Tennessee, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Louisville.
