Men's Golf In Third At Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational
03/19/2010 University of Mississippi

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Ole Miss men's golf team fired a 1-under 287 in the first round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational Friday and sits in third place at Forest Heights Country Club.

The Rebels, who went out in the first group, posted the 287 and then waited to see where they would end up in the standings.  North Florida shot 285 to lead, and Virginia finished at 286.   The leaderboard is packed, with Auburn just one back of the Rebels in fourth and North Carolina State just two back in fifth.

Junior Jonathan Randolph carded a 2-under 70 and stands in a tie for fourth, just two back of Virginia's Will Collins.  Randolph has three top five finishes in three tournaments this spring, including winning the Gator Invitational.

Freshman Pete Kellermann shot 71 and is tied for ninth, Joe David posted a 72, and Billy Brozovich turned in a 74 to round out the scoring for the Rebels.

"Jonathan led us again. He is playing really well-consistent and smart," head coach Ernest Ross said.  "We played more like I think we can.  We had the best weather all spring, and it was fun to play without wind and rain gear.  Pete also had a good day.  I am proud of his progress as a true freshman."

Ole Miss will tee off the second round Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.  Fans can follow all the action by going to www.OleMissSports.com and clicking on the live stats link in the Rebel Hub.
