Mike Bianco announced Michael Guerrero and Sean Stuyverson as part of the 2006-07 early signing period.

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss added two more signees for the 2006-07 early signing period as outfielder Michael Guerrero and shortstop Sean Stuyverson have signed national letters of intent to join the Rebel baseball program head coach Mike Bianco announced on Wednesday.

Both Guerrero and Stuyverson will be eligible to compete for the Rebels during the 2007-08 academic year.

Guerrero signed with Ole Miss from Meridian Community College, where he helped lead the Eagles to the 2006 MACJC State Championship. He earned All-Conference, All-District and All-State honors, as well as earning a spot on the All-Region Team for Region 23.

The outfielder hit .379 with 20 doubles, 14 home runs and posted 17 steals on the season as a part of Meridian’s run to the state championship. Guerrero was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2006 MLB Draft.

A native of Nesbit, Miss., Guerrero was an All-State selection from Southaven High School before moving on to play ball at Meridian.

“Michael is a very talented hitter and he showed that with his performances in high school and continued showing that in junior college,” Bianco said. “We’re excited about getting Michael to campus and having him in a Rebel uniform.”

Stuyverson comes to Ole Miss from Okaloosa-Walton Community College, where he transferred after a freshman season at Florida State University where he played shortstop for the Seminoles.

The infielder earned All-State honors and was named District 2 Player of the Year his senior season at North Florida Christian as he hit .440 with five home runs. He was also named to the Team Florida showcase team as one of the top 26 players in the state in addition to competing for the East Coast Showcase team and playing in the Area Code Games. Stuyverson was also a First Team TPX All-American and All-State selection.

At Florida State, Stuyverson saw action in 16 games as a freshman.

“Sean is a very talented infielder with good hands and ability at the plate,” Bianco said. “He is no stranger to big time college baseball after having spent time at Florida State. We are excited about him signing to join our program and look forward to him joining us next season.”

The duo signed as part of the class inked during the 2006 early signing period.
