Ole Miss' 2012 season highlight video, which you can see above, was named FBS video of the year by FootballScoop.com. The six finalists were evaluated by a voting panel consisting of Andy Staples (Sports Illustrated), Adam Kramer (Bleacher Report), Chris Brown (Smart Football) and Brian Floyd (SB Nation), and you can read their comments on the video in the linked FootballScoop.com story.
Chris Buttgen, Ole Miss' assistant director of sports video, produced the video in collaboration with the Ole Miss Sports Production staff, led by Micah Ginn, director of creative services.
Buttgen said his job primarily is to do the creative side of things, the post-production work for football, such as promotion videos, recruiting videos, motivational videos, position videos and even wedding videos. He also shot this Vine of head coach Hugh Freeze and the Ladies' Football Forum Locking The Vaught this past Saturday.
"Since I have more access to football I shoot a lot of stuff here in-house that a lot of people wouldn't see like meeting, and I'll mic up the coaches, and stuff like that," Butthgen said. "And on game day, we have another one of our staff members that shoot on the sideline, and I shoot the sideline and inside the coaches' box.
"I have full access to the locker room. I'm flying with the team, riding with the team, so I'll shoot some hotel stuff. Then Rebel Vision, the job they do and the equipment they have, between the cameras and the great shots, we combine our resources. You'll see my shot in their videos, and you'll see their shot in my videos."
Buttgen said they never got to watch the video as a team but have seen it on Twitter, and they love seeing it. Buttgen also said they showed it on their recruiting weekend and continue to show it to recruits. Rebel Vision released its most recent video, "More," on July 10, and Buttgen said they have some great videos on the way.
"We have done some green-screen stuff, and Micah has done some shoots," he said. "The preseason is when they really shine. They do a lot of preseason videos with ticket promotions and everything. The 'More' video that came out, we have several other kinds of videos that will be hitting the airwaves soon.
"The intro video this year for Vaught-Hemingway is going to be amazing, from what I can tell. I can't even see all of it yet because a lot of it was green screen. It's going to be real cool. I plan on taking my pregame motivations to a whole nother level. I got some new equipment coming in and I got some new ideas I heard about this year."
Congratulations to @cbuttgen for wining FootballScoops video of the year. Well deserved-- Hugh Freeze (@CoachHughFreeze) July 23, 2013
