Round One ... In the Books

So today was the first round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship. There was some awesome golf out there. Lots of birdies being made, some awesome putts but just like a roller coaster ride there are ups and downs and the team experienced a little bit of that today BUT something that I thought was neat was the re-grouping after the round. Everyone knew what they needed to focus on, they practiced it, we got in the Sprinter Van and headed back to the hotel.

(Sidenote: You really can't miss us here in Knoxville.  The van is big and blue and says "Ole Miss" in red letters. If I had a dollar for every stare I saw from other drivers, we would be in GOOD shape. #WeAreOleMiss)

I'm learning a lot about this group in our travels to and from the golf course. Abby Newton is the DJ and almost like clockwork there will be something light to open with, think The Fray or Goo Goo Dolls, but inevitably, country will be on deck. Although there was a little Nelly, Tail Feather today that even got the front of the van moving!

This group likes country -- no doubt about that.

This group also likes to sing country. There may or may not have been some serenading on the way back from dinner ... Alison Hovatter #JustSayin  This group is so into country that even Maria, all the way from Norway knows the lyrics... she's only been here about a month and she's got Hunter Hayes DOWN!

In my time at Ole Miss, the word family comes up a lot, in fact it's one of the main reasons I like it in Oxford so much, everyone really is like family. I don't have sisters but I definitely feel like I've gained some this weekend.

See you on the course tomorrow, bring your rain gear!

1 Heart, 1 Goal

Strange things happen to Ole Miss football teams in games played on Halloween. I don't know if I can bear to watch this one or not.

I am not and never have been an Ole Miss fan. I am however a Coach Freeze fan. I like what he represents in today's world of big time sports and what he stands for in leading young men of today into a more responsible role. He is everything that Ole Miss has never had. I am on his band wagon winning or losing.
