OXFORD, Miss. - The University Police Department provides dedicated support for the Ole Miss community, and Rebels Athletics showed its gratitude by serving dinner for the UPD staff Monday evening.

"This is just a small token of our appreciation for all they do for the university," said Ole Miss Director of Athletics Pete Boone. "Ole Miss is one of the great college communities, and the safety we are afforded by our UPD officers is a big reason why."

Under the direction of Chief Calvin Sellers, the University Police Department is composed of five integrated divisions--patrol, investigation, crime prevention, security staff and traffic/support--that strive to ensure a high quality of student-faculty life by promoting a tranquil, safe atmosphere.

For Athletics, UPD works with security personnel to guarantee a safe environment at the various Rebels' sporting events on campus. Officers also travel with the football team and provide security during their road trips.
