OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Athletics Department has released its five-year strategic plan (2010-2015) to meet the diverse and ever-changing needs of Rebel student-athletes, coaches, staff, university, conference and community.
The development of the plan has been 18 months in the making, under the guidance of Ole Miss' Athletics Director Pete Boone and the senior administration. Leadership of the UMAA Foundation and Ole Miss Sports Properties also contributed to the creation of this "living document."
"It will evolve as we engage our students, faculty, staff and alumni," Boone said. "As this engagement broadens, we will have a better understanding of the true definition of success. The challenge for us is to understand that success is a moving target, redefined every day in this ultra-competitive environment."
Using the theme "Bold Vision, Bright Future," the three strategic priorities of the plan include: 1) ensuring student-athletes success in the classroom and on the field; 2) positioning athletics teams to compete for championships; and 3) building community and commitment to the University through outreach and by providing the ultimate game day experience for Rebel fans.
"The development of this plan reinforced our belief that our strength lies in the collective passion and engagement of the entire Ole Miss community," said Boone. "Through the partnership and collaboration of our Ole Miss family and the collective understanding of our core values and long-term goals, we will build on the momentum and success we have experienced over the past decade."
