Ole Miss Posts Solid APR Results 14 Teams Above National Average In Respective Sport
June 11, 2013
OXFORD, Miss. -- Fourteen athletics teams at Ole Miss posted multi-year APR scores above the national average for Division I in their respective sports, and four teams achieved a perfect 1000 score in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) report released by the NCAA Tuesday.
All 18 sports scored above the national cutoff standard of 925 in the multi-year APR results, which cover the four-year period extending from the 2008-09 through 2011-12 school years.
"I appreciate the hard work of the FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center over the years," said senior associate athletics director Derek Cowherd. "It is our responsibility to continue to motivate student-athletes to not only stay with the university, but to also strive to earn a degree. To post such positive APR scores with occasional coaching turnover is a testament to their dedication to this university and to the student-athletes."
Women's Cross Country, women's golf, women's tennis and volleyball received public recognition awards last week from the NCAA for posting multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of their particular sport. Women's golf received the award for the fifth year in a row.
Joining those four sports with perfect scores for the 2011-12 year is men's tennis.
Baseball (978), men's basketball (979), men's tennis (984), men's indoor track (969), men's outdoor track (972), women's basketball (976), women's cross country (1000), women's golf (1000), softball (993), women's tennis (1000), women's indoor track, women's outdoor track , volleyball and rifle all posted multi-year APR scores above the national average for Division I.
