OXFORD, Miss. –The Old Miss Football team, fresh of its season-opening victory against Vanderbilt, gave back to the greater Oxford community by participating in a Day of Community service on Labor Day, Monday.
After a morning practice, the team split up into position groups and went to spend some time volunteering at several places throughout Oxford. The Rebels volunteered their time at the Hermitage Gardens of Oxford, Graceland Care Center, Veterans Home and Emeritus Assisted Living
"The people of our state and surrounding region provide us unbelievable support, so it's important to us that we give back to them whenever we have the opportunity,” said head football coach Hugh Freeze. “With classes out for Labor Day, I can't think of a better way for our players and coaches to spend the day. It was so special seeing the smiles on those faces, and I think we got as much enjoyment out of it as they did."
