LEXINGTON, Ky. -- She's competed in two meets in her first season as an Ole Miss Rebel, and both times she's broken a school record.

Not a bad start for junior thrower Janeah Stewart, who for the second straight meet had a record-setting day in the weight throw. The 2016 USTFCCCA Junior College Women's Field Athlete of the Year while at Iowa Central Community College, Stewart improved on her NCAA lead in the event with a second-attempt heave of 21.86m/71-8.75 on Friday, the first day of the Rod McCravy Memorial hosted by the University of Kentucky.

Stewart now owns the top two weight throw marks in school history -- 71-8.75 and 71-7.5. The previous school record of 68-2.25 was set by Raven Saunders last year. Stewart's best weight throw before this season was 64-10.5.

Ole Miss collected two event victories on Friday. The other was by senior Branden Greene in the men's high jump. He cleared a season-best 2.15m/7-0.5, which ranks him among the top 20 in the NCAA this year. He was one of three athletes to clear 7-0.5 on the day and was crowned the victory by earning the tiebreaker on fewer misses. Greene also made the finals of the long jump, finishing ninth with a leap of 7.04m/23-1.25.

The men's weight throw was a solid event for the Rebels, as seniors Dempsey McGuigan and Kevin Conway finished fourth and fifth with marks of 20.14m/66-1 and 19.96m/65-6, respectively.

Junior Lindsey Murray placed third in the women's pole vault with a season-best clearance of 4.20m/13-9.25 that should vault her into the top 10 or 15 in the NCAA rankings.

In the women's long jump, freshman Kaira Simmons and junior Lanae Newsome both advanced to the finals. Simmons finished fourth with an indoor personal-best distance of 5.77m/18-11.25, while Newsome claimed eighth with a mark of 5.61m/18-5.

A full day of events is slated for Saturday in Lexington. The meet will be broadcast on SEC Network+ beginning at 11 a.m. CT when the running events get underway. The live broadcast will feature highlights of some of the top events from Friday as well.
