Vanderbilt Invitational Live Results | A-State Scarlet and Black Invitational Live Results

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fabia McDonald made her long-awaited return from injury Friday, and it was worth the wait.

On the first day of the Vanderbilt Invitational, the fifth-year senior broke her own school record in the pentathlon with a score of 4,057.

Sidelined by a foot injury she suffered near the beginning of last year’s indoor season, McDonald returned with a flurry in Nashville. She eclipsed her previous record total of 4,005 from her fifth-place finish at the 2012 SEC Championships. Her newest record ranks her No. 6 in the NCAA this year after a big day in the pentathlon across the country.

Among the five events that make up the pentathlon, she set indoor personal bests of 38-11.5 in the shot put and 2:18.70 in the 800 meters. She was the top performer in three of five events and finished no worse than third in any of them.

Competing in her first collegiate pentathlon, freshman Brittany Kelly finished third with a score of 3,689 that ranks her fifth in the school record books. She was the top performer in both the 60-meter hurdles (8.74) and 800 meters (2:15.51). Her hurdle time ranks her eighth in school history, while her 800 run was the best ever by an Ole Miss pentathlete.

In the men’s high jump, sophomores Branden Greene and Adam Aguirre finished fourth and fifth with marks of 6-10.75 and 6-8.75, respectively. Greene’s season-best height moves him up to No. 6 in Ole Miss history.

Saturday’s action at Vanderbilt’s Multipurpose Facility is slated to run from 10:30 a.m. until about 6 p.m. Most of the Rebels’ top athletes will run, jump and throw in attempts at season bests and personal records.

A portion of the Ole Miss team will be in Jonesboro, Arkansas, for Saturday's A-State Scarlet and Black Invitational, as well.
