WALNUT, Calif. - Ole Miss senior Teneeshia Jones set a new Ole Miss record on Sunday at the Mt. SAC Relays by winning the Women's Invitational 200-meter dash with a time of 22.97. Jones' record-setting time also automatically qualified her in the event for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

In addition to her first-place finish in the 200 meters, Jones finished third in the Women's Invitational 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29. She has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 meters. Jones also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.77) and has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in that event.

Senior Tisha Parker finished second in the Women's Invitational long jump with a leap of 20-6.25. She has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump. Parker also finished fourth in the 200 meters (23.62).

Senior Brandy Barnett tied for fourth place in the high jump, clearing 5-4.25. Senior Willette Woods placed seventh in the 100 meters (11.78).

Freshman James Shelton finished third in the 100 meters (10.33), earning a provisional qualification for the NCAA Championships. Freshman Kendrick Triggs finished fifth in the 200 meters (20.81). Triggs' time in the 200 meters was just .01 short of a provisional qualification for the NCAA Championships.

The Ole Miss track and field squads will again split up next weekend. Some members of the team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Relays, while other members will travel to Monroe, La., for the Louisiana-Monroe Relays.
