ATLANTA, Ga. -- The 16th-ranked Ole Miss Lady Rebels and Rebels competed at the Georgia Tech-Reebok Track Invitational Saturday in Atlanta, Ga. looking for improved qualifying times for the NCAA Championships, but came up empty. All-American Teneeshia Jones finished sixth in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200 meters but was the top collegian in the 200 and second collegian in the 100. She is already provisionally qualified for both events for the NCAA Championships.
All-American Tisha Parker, who is automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump, failed to improve on her NCAA provisionally qualifying mark in the triple jump, finishing 19th and 11th among collegiate athletes. Brandy Mack, who ranks 15th nationally in the 400-meter hurdles, finished 21st in the field, while Chika Chuku, who is provisionally qualified in the 800 meters, finished 19th.
Also competing for the Lady Rebels was Brandy Barnett, who finished 12th in the high jump. On the men's side, Savante' Stringfellow took the week off from the long jump, to compete in the 100 and 200 meters, where he finished 13th in the 100 and 11th in the 200 meters.
Senior Kyle Wallace closed out his Rebel career, matching his third place pole vault height Saturday,with avault of 17-2.75, but cameup just short ofqualifying for the NCAA Championships and finishing fourth. Stacy Andrews rounded outthe Ole Miss competitors, finishing 9th in the men's discus. Ole Miss will find out Monday or Tuesday which of the provisionally qualified athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships in Durham, N.C.
