NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ole Miss men’s cross country team grabbed a third-place finish in the Commodore Classic, besting both SEC rivals Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

Just as in the first meet of the season, freshman Mark Robertson posted the best time for the Rebels. His time of 25:00.31 was good for 10th overall in the field of 242 runners.

The women’s team finished sixth in the Classic with 165 points.

For the second time in two events, Mary Alex England finished with the best time for Ole Miss. Her run of 17.23.33 placed eighth overall of 260 runners.

“I was proud of our effort today,” head coach Brian O’Neal said. “We had solid performances from both our men's and women's teams. It was good to see the progress made from week one to week two.”

Ole Miss sent only a portion of the team to Nashville for the event.

The Rebels have a two-week break before returning to action Oct. 4 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
