JONESBORO, Ark. - Fabia McDonald won the pentathlon in her first career collegiate meet, leading the Rebels on the first day of the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic.

McDonald, a freshman from Middletown, Ohio, scored 3,535 points to claim the pentathlon title. Sophomore Brittany Bozeman took second with 3,370 points. Freshman Mary Ashton Nall placed seventh with 2,976, followed by junior Christiana Coleman in 12th with 2,599.

Sophomore Neal Tisher also competed in the pentathlon but had to withdraw due to pain in her foot.

The men competed in the first four events of the heptathlon on Friday, with freshman Ben Lapane standing in fifth place with 2,626 points. Freshman Geoffrey Enchill had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury.

The majority of events will take place Saturday, as the Rebels continue their first meet of the 2010-11 indoor season.
