USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS
– After two successful meets to start the indoor season, Ole Miss women’s track and field has earned its fourth-straight top-10 national ranking, coming in at No. 10 in the latest USTFCCCA Indoor National Computer Rankings released on Monday.

Ole Miss has ranked in the top-10 nationally on the women’s side since Week Six of the 2017 season – the longest top-10 streak indoors in school history among the women or the men.

Preseason data still applies for this rankings release, but that doesn’t mean that the Rebels have been without high-caliber performances in the opening stages of the indoor season.

Senior All-American Janeah Stewart has led the way, currently ranking No. 2 in the NCAA in the weight throw (22.88m/75-00.75) and 16th in the shot put (16.55m/54-03.75). Fellow senior Lindsey Murray also ranks in the top-25 at No. 22 in the pole vault (4.07m/13-04.25), but the Rebel runners have made a strong push on the national scene these first two weeks as well.

Junior Maddie McHugh leads with a No. 9 ranking in the 800-meter (2:08.24), and senior sprinter Jolie Carbo has her hand in two different top-25 rankings. Carbo ran a half-second PR in the 400-meter dash at the Vanderbilt Invite last week at 54.20 (15th in the NCAA) before running a 54.51 opening split of the women’s 4x400-meter relay that ran 3:40.65 – the fastest time at Ole Miss in six years and the 25th-fastest relay in the NCAA. Also on that relay were McHugh, Jasmin Allen and Mercedes Mattix.

Also ranking is senior distance runner Kat MacNeal, who sits No. 35 nationally in the mile at a four-second PR time of 4:48.07 – the fourth-fastest mile time in Ole Miss history.

Ole Miss returns to the road this week for its first scored meet of the season at the Razorback Invite in Fayetteville, Ark., on Jan. 26-27.
