NEW ORLEANS
– Ole Miss women’s track & field moved up two spots to No. 20 in the latest USTFCCCA National Computer Rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rebel women have now been nationally ranked in 12-straight outdoor releases by the USTFCCCA, dating back to Ole Miss head coach Connie Price-Smith’s first season in 2016. In her time at the helm, the Rebel women have ranked within the top-25 in 15 of the 22 total rankings releases during the outdoor season. Two weeks ago, Ole Miss opened the season No. 22 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings, the highest preseason slot for the Rebel women since the association started the national rankings in 2008.

Leading the way is senior All-American thrower Janeah Stewart, who currently ranks in the national top-50 in all three of her events and is contributing 62.53 of the 93.43 total points Ole Miss received in the computer rankings.

Stewart, one of two to triple at the national meet in 2017 (the other being Arizona State’s Maggie Ewen), currently holds the fourth-best mark nationally in the hammer throw at her new school record of 67.70m (222-01) – set at USC’s Trailblazer Challenge on March 23. This past week at the Ole Miss Classic, Stewart threw a season-best in the shot put to move to No. 6 nationally at 16.98m (55-08.50). Her discus season-best of 51.20m (168-00) from this past week also falls in the NCAA top-50 at No. 49.

Fellow senior Jolie Carbo also has her hands on three different national top-50 times, with the ninth-fastest 400-meter time at 52.87 (fifth-fastest in Ole Miss history), and as members of the 10th-best 4x100-meter relay (alongside Nicole Henderson, Alia Holmes and Shannon Ray) at 44.10 and the 47th-best 4x400-meter relay (alongside Jasmin Allen, Aisha Newsome and Mercedes Mattix) at 3:40.38.

Other Rebels with current season marks within the national top-50 include: Maddie McHugh in the 800-meter (eighth, 2:06.12), Shannon Ray in the 100-meter dash (11th, 11.25), Shelby Brown in the 1500-meter (19th, 4:20.47), Lindsey Murray in the pole vault (22nd, 4.06m/13-03.75) and Kaira Simmons in the long jump (44th, 6.06m/19-10.75). A handful of other preseason marks are still contributing to the No. 20 ranking, and Ole Miss holds 18 total women’s marks or times within the top-48 of the NCAA East Region.

The Rebel men, meanwhile, still sit within the national top-50 as a team at No. 40. Senior All-American Brian Williams owns two of the six national top-50 marks for the Ole Miss men, including two in the top-15 in the discus (second, 61.20m/200-09) and shot put (15th, 18.67m/61-03.00). The Rebel men also hold 12 total marks or times within the NCAA East Region top-48.

Ole Miss heads to Georgia this weekend for the Spec Towns Invite, which will be held April 6-7 in Athens.
