NEW ORLEANS
– Ole Miss women’s track & field remained within the national top-25, coming in at No. 21 in the latest USTFCCCA National Computer Rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.

Ole Miss has been nationally ranked now in 13-straight outdoor rankings releases, dating back to Rebel head coach Connie Price-Smith’s first season in 2016. During her tenure at Ole Miss, the Rebel women have ranked within the top-25 in 16 of the total 23 total outdoor rankings releases. The Rebels opened the outdoor season No. 22 in the Preseason Rankings, the highest outdoor preseason slot for Ole Miss since the association began the national rankings in 2008.

Rebel senior and All-American thrower Janeah Stewart is coming off another impressive weekend of action, pushing herself into the top-17 nationally in all three of her throwing events. Stewart, who currently accounts for 59.72 of the total 86.38 points for the Rebel women in the rankings, sits at No. 4 nationally in the hammer (school-record 67.70m/222-01), No. 6 in the shot put (17.11m/56-01.75) and No. 17 in the discus (54.39m/178-05) – joining Arizona State’s Maggie Ewen as the only thrower to currently rank within the top-17 of all three. Stewart and Ewen – who leads the nation in all three events – were the only two throwers to triple at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Fellow senior and sprinter Jolie Carbo is also contributing to three different national top-50 times. She holds the nation’s 16th-fastest 400-meter dash time at a career-best 52.87 (fifth all-time at Ole Miss), and she has been on two different 4x100-meter relay teams that rank 15th (44.10; Nicole Henderson, Alia Holmes, Carbo, Shannon Ray) and 30th (44.73; Henderson, T’Aja Cameron, Carbo, Ray).

Other Rebel women contributing national top-50 marks or times include: senior Shannon Ray in the 100-meter dash (12th, 11.25), junior Maddie McHugh in the 800-meter (12th, 2:06.12), redshirt junior Lindsey Murray in the pole vault (16th, 4.16m/13-07.75), senior Shelby Brown in the 1500-meter (21st, 4:20.47) and sophomore Kieshonna Brooks in the heptathlon (31st, 4,988). A handful of other preseason marks are still contributing to the No. 21 ranking, and the Rebel women hold an additional 22 total marks within the NCAA East Region top-48.

The Rebel men, meanwhile, held steady at No. 40. Senior All-American Brian Williams holds two national top-50 marks in the discus (second, 61.20m/200-09) and shot put (21st, 18.67m/61-03.00), and freshman Allen Gordon also holds two from this past week along in the high jump (16th, 2.16m/7-1) and long jump (33rd, 7.62m/25-00.00). Cullen Prena (discus, 24th, 56.28m/184-08) and Manny Foster (long jump, 49th, 7.52m/24-08.25) also rank within the top-50. The Rebel men also hold 11 marks or times within the NCAA East Region top-48.

Ole Miss returns home this weekend for the Joe Walker Invite, which will be held April 13-14 at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex.
