OXFORD, Miss. – The final weekend of the outdoor track & field regular season is here for the No. 20 Ole Miss men and No. 24 Ole Miss women, as the Rebels head to Saturday’s Memphis Invitational (Memphis, Tenn.) and Sunday’s Payton Jordan Invitational (Stanford, Calif.).

One of 10 schools whose men and women are both ranked in the top 25 of this week’s USTFCCCA national rankings, Ole Miss will send most of its athletes to Memphis, while several of the men’s and women’s distance runners will be gunning for school records and NCAA regional qualifying marks at Stanford.

Although rain is in the forecast for Memphis this weekend, Saturday’s competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT and run throughout the day. The men’s and women’s hammer throw will be contested Friday afternoon.

The Payton Jordan Invitational will feature many of the top distance runners in the country, competing in the 800, 1500, 5000, 10,000 and steeplechase throughout Sunday afternoon and evening. Ole Miss records could fall in both the men’s and women’s 5000 meters, with the Rebels running six men (Robert Domanic, MJ Erb, Wesley Gallagher, Trevor Gilley, Sean Tobin, Ryan Walling) and four women (Emily Bean, Mary Alex England, Bo Ummels, Britt Ummels).

Head coach Connie Price-Smith’s Rebels will look to be close to top form as they make their final preparations for the May 12-14 Southeastern Conference Championships, followed by the NCAA East Preliminary and NCAA Championships.

Head Coach Connie Price-Smith Says:

"Hopefully this weekend will provide a good opportunity for the athletes to work on things and fine-tune for SEC Championships. Everyone is feeling great and I look for good times, heights and distances this weekend at both sites."
