BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After standout performances at last weekend’s Ole Miss Classic home meet, Brian Williams received SEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors and Parker Scott was named SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.

Williams, a junior from Warren, Michigan, earned the SEC honor for the second straight week. He won the Ole Miss Classic with a discus throw of 61.38m/201-4, breaking a 9-year-old Ole Miss Track & Field Complex record. For the second straight week, he achieved the farthest throw in the nation.

Williams remains undefeated against collegiate competition in the discus this season and is the NCAA leader with a school-record throw of 64.12m/210-4 at the SEC Relays in Baton Rouge.

Scott, a freshman from Corpus Christi, Texas, lowered his personal best in the 800 meters by nearly three seconds with a fourth-place finish in a tightly packed lunge at the finish line of the Ole Miss Classic. He ranks third among SEC freshmen in the 800, which is not his top event. He is currently No. 1 among league freshmen and ninth among all freshmen in the nation in the 1500 (3:44.55).

The No. 12 Ole Miss men compete alongside the 16th-ranked women at the SEC Championships this week. The three-day meet will run Thursday-Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina.
