NEW ORLEANS
– Ole Miss women’s track & field remained within the national top-25 following a historic finish at the SEC Outdoor Championships, coming in a No. 24 in the latest USTFCCCA National Computer Rankings. The Rebel men remain on the cusp as well at No. 31.

The Rebel women are coming off a historic fifth-place finish at the conference meet this past weekend, the highest in program history. At 74 meet points, Ole Miss trailed only No. 9 Florida (91), No. 1 LSU (88.5), No. 8 Texas A&M (79.5) and No. 15 Tennessee (78), while beating out ranked foes in No. 4 Arkansas (70), No. 5 Kentucky (70), No. 6 Georgia (61), No. 17 Alabama (53.5) and No. 18 Missouri (53).

This marks the 18th-straight top-25 ranking for the Rebel women outdoors, a streak that dates back to Ole Miss head coach Connie Price-Smith’s first season at the helm in 2016. In her three seasons, the Rebel women have now been ranked in 21 of the 28 possible outdoor rankings releases from the USTFCCCA.

Ole Miss holds 11 national top-50 marks, including three in the top-25 from the three-time defending scoring champion of the conference meet, Janeah Stewart. She scored 24 points at the SEC meet this past weekend, and she currently ranks fourth in the shot put (17.97m/58-11.50), fifth in the hammer (67.70m/222-01) and 25th in the discus (54.91m/180-02).

The Rebel men, meanwhile, hold 12 in the national top-50, and are still led by SEC gold medalists, Robert Domanic and Brian Williams. Domanic still ranks as the top 1500-meter runner in the United States at the NCAA’s third-fastest time of 3:36.33, and Williams – who just became the first SEC thrower to successfully defend in the discus since 2010-11 – ranks fourth at his season-best 61.54m (201-11).

All told, Ole Miss holds 37 total marks or times within the NCAA East Region top-48 (21 women, 16 men). The final lists for the regional meet will be released in the coming days following declarations and scratches. The NCAA East Regional will be held in Tampa this year from May 24-26.
