OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's and women's cross country teams head to Nashville to compete at the Commodore Classic on Saturday.

The event will feature an 8k race for the men and a 5k for the women. The men's race begins at 9 a.m. with the women's contest following shortly after at 10 a.m. Both races will be held at Percy Warner Park.

The men’s team remained at No. 15 in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches’ Poll as well as maintaining the top spot in the South Region after a fourth place finish last time out in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic.

"We hope to run a more complete race from start to finish than we did at Memphis Twilight two weeks ago,” Ole Miss coach Ryan Vanhoy said. “We will use this meet as another opportunity for our younger guys to get some more competitive experience before we roll out our entire squad in two weeks at the Greater Louisville Classic."

The Ole Miss women moved up to No. 9 in the South Region after a runner-up finish in Memphis.

"We are looking to take a step forward from the first meet and really push ourselves to be more competitive from the start of the race,” Vanhoy said. “We are hoping to tighten up our 1-5 spread and will continue to work on that over the course of the season."

Last season at the Commodore Classic, the men’s side claimed a third place finish with the women coming in sixth. Sophomore Mark Robertson, who will be making his season debut on Saturday, led the men with a 10th place finish. Junior Mary Alex England led the way for the women’s side with an eighth-overall finish.

The field includes a total of 16 other regionally ranked teams with six on the men’s side and 10 on the women’s side.
