OXFORD, Miss. -
The Ole Miss cross country teams head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the 2014 SEC Championships on Friday.

The women's 6K race gets started at 9 a.m., with the men's 8K following at 10 a.m. Both races take place at the Harry Pritchett Running Course. This marks the fifth time that the University of Alabama has hosted the SEC Cross Country Championships, with the most recent taking place in 2000.

A post-produced packaged broadcast of the championships will air on the SEC Network at 8 p.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The Ole Miss men enter the meet receiving votes in the USTFCCCA National Poll for the first time in more than 25 years. The Rebels are the top vote-earner outside of the top 30.

The Rebels' depth has shown through the four meets this season, with three different runners, Sean Tobin, Wesley Gallagher and Mark Robertson, clocking the best time in a meet.

Gallagher, in his first year at Ole Miss after transferring from Northeastern University, boasts the third-best 8K time by an SEC runner this year with his 24:00.74 at the Greater Louisville Classic (Oct. 4).

Tobin led the way in an impressive eighth-place team showing at the Pre-Nationals Invitational (Oct. 18) when he placed 48th of 310 runners in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Along with Gallagher, Tobin and Robertson, Robert Domanic, Daniel Bulmer, Ian Carter, Trevor Gilley, Taylor Caldwell, John Dalton Rohr and Derek Gutierrez will run Friday.

The best SEC finishes in men's program history are a second-place finish in 1968 and third-place finishes in 1969 and 1984.

The Ole Miss women have gained invaluable experience while improving throughout the year. The women will race a squad consisting of six freshmen, two sophomores and a senior in the SEC Championship.

The three Rebels with SEC Cross Country Championship experience are senior Margaret Harkness and sophomores Saga Barzowski and Scarlett Fox. The six freshmen running are Shelby Brown, Leanne Zimmer, Madison Rawson, Kat MacNeal, Elisabeth Gaillet and Emily Bean.

Last year, the Rebels finished ninth on the women's side and 10th on the men's. The Arkansas men and women are the defending SEC Cross Country Champions.
