Cross Country Teams Ranked Top 20 in Nation
Aug. 29, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. - Before the cross country season has had time to begin, more history has been made.

Coming off the most successful finish in program history, with the men's No. 4 finish and the women's No. 23 finish at the NCAA Championships last year, Ole Miss Cross Country enters the 2017 NCAA cross country season in the No. 18 spot in both the men's and women's USTFCCCA poll.

On Oct. 4, 2016, men's cross country was ranked No. 10 and the women obtained the No. 22 slot, marking the first time in school history where both cross country programs were in the rankings during the same poll.

This season, Rebel cross country doesn't have to wait. Both teams are predicted to finish third in the SEC and first in the South Region.

The Rebels are one of 13 programs that have both teams in the top 30 of the national rankings, including SEC rival Arkansas.

As the 2017 season begins, Ole Miss Cross Country looks to build on the unprecedented success of three straight mens NCAA Championship appearances for the first time in program history. The women look to make their second straight appearance.

The Rebels will start their season up the road in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sept. 2 at 9:20 p.m. for the women and 10:00 p.m. for the men.
