Sept. 29, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. - After sweeping the Rebel Invite for the second consecutive year, Ole Miss cross country will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Saturday Sept. 30, to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree.

Both men’s and women’s cross country teams are ranked in the USTFCCCA National Rankings. Both teams are also ranked top two in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings.

The No. 16 Ole Miss women’s cross country team will be competing in the Women’s Orange 6K starting at 9:15 a.m. against No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Penn State, Tulsa, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Wichita State, Northwestern and SEC foe Missouri.

The No. 22 Ole Miss men’s cross country team will be taking part in the Orange Men’s 8K starting at 9:45 a.m. against No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 28 Tulsa, Penn State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Wichita State and SEC foe Missouri.

Four Rebels will be competing for the first time this season. Sean Tobin, Waleed Suliman and Brandon Harvey for the men, and Clio Ozanne-Jaques for the women.  Suliman and Ozanne-Jaques will be making their collegiate debuts this weekend.

Head coach Ryan Vanhoy is looking forward to the difficulty that this course presents.

“We are looking to go in and compete well against a quality field on one of the harder courses in the NCAA,” said Vanhoy. “The national championship will be held here in 2020 so we wanted to get a look at the course well in advance since we've never competed here before.”

The Cowboy Jamboree is the longest continuously running cross country meet in the country. This will be the 81st consecutive Cowboy Jamboree after starting in 1937.
