OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss cross country teams head to Kentucky to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday against a loaded field.

"This weekend's meet will serve as a great reference point as our teams compete against some of the top programs in the nation," cross country coach Ryan Vanhoy said.

The No. 13 ranked men's team will race a complete squad for the first time this season. The Rebels are the top ranked team in the SEC and hold the top spot in the USTFCCCA South Region.

"Many of our top athletes have been training heavily through the month of September," Vanhoy said. "To finally reach the first meet where we all travel and race together is something that we are excited about."

The Rebels will compete against four other nationally ranked teams in the men's "gold" race, three of which currently ranked in the top 10 in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll (No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 8 Iona, No. 10 Michigan).

The Ole Miss women moved up to No. 8 in the South Region after two top-five finishes to begin the season. The women's "gold" race will include six nationally ranked teams.

"The women's team is looking for another opportunity to keep improving as we get closer to the SEC Championships at the end of the month," Vanhoy said. "Emily Bean will make her season debut this weekend, which should provide a nice boost to our team. Nikki Park will also return to the line-up after missing the Vanderbilt meet while being sick, so we are looking forward to adding both of those athletes back in as we square off with a very competitive field."

The men's "gold" 8K kicks off at 8:30 a.m. CT with the women's "gold" 5K following at 9:15. Ole Miss will also race in the men's and women's "blue" races which begin at 9:45 and 10:30 respectively.
