OXFORD, Miss. – Following a successful weekend at Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Jamboree, Ole Miss women’s and men’s cross country both moved up in the most recent national rankings released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday.

The Rebel women leapt up four spots to No. 12, the highest national ranking for Ole Miss in program history. Ole Miss, which also remains atop the South Region rankings on the women’s side, took down ninth-ranked Penn State by four points at 44-48 for a team victory in the 6K at the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday.

Senior Hannah Christen (20:58.8) led the way for the Rebels in third place, followed by four other scorers in the top-13 spots: senior Emily Bean (fifth, 21:06.6), freshman Clio Ozanne-Jaques (11th, 21:12.5), senior Shelby Brown (12th, 21:13.4) and junior Anna Braswell (13th, 21:31.9). The Rebels also edged out another nationally ranked team in No. 22 Oklahoma State (fourth, 111 points).

The Rebel men moved up one spot to No. 24 after narrowly falling by two points to No. 9 Oklahoma State, 42-44, in the 8K at the Cowboy Jamboree. This marks the 14th straight poll that the Ole Miss men have been ranked or receiving votes, dating back to the final week of the 2015 season. Throughout this stretch, the Rebels have reached an overall program-high of No. 10 in Week Four of 2016.

Despite coming up short against the Cowboys, the Rebels were able to beat out another ranked team in No. 28 Tulsa (fifth place, 135 points). Ole Miss put all five of their scorers in the top-15 as well with senior Sean Tobin (third, 24:26.6), senior Derek Gutierrez (fifth, 24:43.6), freshman Parker Scott (ninth, 24:48.5), senior Ryan Manahan (12th, 25:03.2) and junior Taylor Caldwell (15th, 25:04.7) scoring for the Rebels.

The Rebels are off this upcoming week in preparation for the Pre-National Invitational at Louisville on Oct. 14.
