LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ole Miss men’s and women’s cross country will face an important test at the Pre-National Invitational at Louisville on Saturday.

After running well at the 2020 NCAA National Championship site at Oklahoma State two weeks ago, the Rebels will now get a preview of the 2017 NCAA National Championship course. Louisville has hosted the Pre-National and NCAA Cross Country meets before in both 2012 and 2015, but the last time the Rebels competed at the Pre-National meet was in 2014 at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ole Miss finished eighth in the men’s race that year.

The No. 12 Ole Miss women will compete in a stacked lineup in the Red Seeded 6K Race, where they are just one of eight ranked teams in attendance amidst No. 4 Michigan, No. 19 Utah State and No. 27 Yale, along with SEC foes No. 9 Arkansas, No. 24 Missouri, No. 25 Georgia, No. 29 Mississippi State and Tennessee.

The 24th-ranked Rebel men also face stiff competition in the Red Seeded 8K Race against No. 19 Georgetown and No. 27 Utah State, as well as SEC rivals Mississippi State, Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee.

The Rebels are coming off an impressive showing at the Cowboy Jamboree, including a team victory by the women leading to their highest national ranking in program history at No. 12 last week. All five Ole Miss scorers finished in the top-13, led by seniors Hannah Christen in third place (20:58.8) and Emily Bean in fifth (21:06.6).

The men finished two points behind No. 9 Oklahoma State to narrowly finish second with all five of their scorers in the top-15 as well. Additionally, Ole Miss put three in the top-10 with seniors Sean Tobin (third, 24:26.6), Derek Gutierrez (fifth, 24:43.6) and freshman Parker Scott (ninth, 24:48.5).

The meet starts with the Men’s Red Seeded 8K Race at 9:00 a.m. CT and the Women’s Red Seeded 6K Race at 9:45 a.m., with unseeded races to follow at 10:30 a.m. (men) and 11:15 a.m. (women). The entire meet will be streamed live on FloTrack (subscription needed).
