Will Allen is tied for the league lead in RBI (33) and is tied for sixth in the league in home runs (4) this season. Christian Trent ranks ninth in the SEC in strikeouts (39) while Josh Laxer is tied for ninth in saves (3). PROBABLE PITCHING MATCHUPS WEDNESDAY, 11:00 AM UAPB - Kyle Schwartz, Sr., RHP OLE MISS - Evan Anderson, Fr., LHP NOTING ANDERSON: Anderson makes his second start for the Rebels, his other coming at SELA in game two of the series. The LHP has made four relief appearances, working 7.2 IP with three walks and seven strikeouts. In his start at SELA, the southpaw worked 3.0 IP with no hits and three strikeouts with no decision. Anderson holds a 1.17 ERA through his five appearances with a .120 opponent batting average.
A LOOK AT UAPB The Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff enter the midweek game with an overall record of 8-19 and are coming off a series loss at home against Texas Southern in which the Lions won the first game, but missed out on the series win with losses in game two and three. The Lions are batting at a .222 clip this season with four home runs and 95 RBI on 106 runs scored. Isias Alcantar leads the offense with a .293 average, two home runs and 18 RBI this season. The UAPB staff holds a 5.87 ERA with 82 walks, 148 strikeouts and .294 opposing batting average. RHP Kyle Schwartz is 2-3 on the year with a 5.52 ERA in eight starts, 11 walks and 29 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting at a .283 clip against Schwartz with 27 earned runs through 44.0 innings.
REBELS vs. UAPB The Rebels and Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff have faced each other three times on the baseball diamond with Ole Miss holding a 3-0 lead in the all-time series with all the games in the Bianco era. The two teams first met in the 2009 season with the Rebels claiming a 22-2 win over the Lions. The second meeting came in the 2010 season with the Rebels picking up a 17-1 win over UAPB. Last season, Ole Miss defeated the UAPB Lions by a score of 7-2 at O-U Stadium.
THROUGH 29 GAMES IN 2013 Through 29 games a year ago, the Rebels had posted a 23-6 record and were coming off a series loss at Florida over the weekend. Ole Miss was hitting at a .286 clip with 10 home runs and 156 RBI, while going 30-of-47 in steal attempts. The Rebel pitching staff was holding to a 2.77 ERA and a .238 opponent's batting average. Pitchers had allowed 95 walks with 221 strikeouts in 260.0 innings.
REBELS ON MLB OPENING DAY: Ole Miss continued to have a presence in the Major League ranks that say among the most of any in the SEC. Ole Miss had six players on active rosters on 2014 Opening Day, including: Aaron Barrett (Washington), Zack Cozart (Cincinnati), Lance Lynn (St. Louis), Drew Pomeranz (Oakland), Alex Presley (Houston) and Seth Smith (San Diego).
