Cole Zabowski Named ABCA Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist
June 19, 2018

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Ole Miss baseball sophomore Cole Zabowski was named a Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Zabowski was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team earlier this season for his efforts at first base for the Rebels. He’ll look to become the second Rebel ever to be named to the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team and the first since catcher Stuart Turner in 2013.

The sophomore out of Lawrenceville, Georgia, made just four errors all season and finished with a .990 fielding percentage and 354 putouts. He was on the receiving end of 36 double plays for one of the best defensive teams in program history this season.

With Zabowski at first base, Ole Miss finished with the best fielding percentage in school history at .978, breaking a mark of .976 that has stood since 2012.

The 6-foot-5 lefty’s season included a highlight reel catch in which he pulled a foul ball out from the stands for an inning-ending out amid Ole Miss’ SEC Tournament Championship run.

Zabowski also had an excellent season at the plate, hitting an even .300 with 10 home runs, 44 RBI, 34 runs scored and eight doubles.

Zabowski is currently in action, playing summer ball for the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in the Northwoods League before returning to the Rebels for his junior season.
