OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss baseball team concluded their second weekend of fall ball with a pair of intrasquad games pitting Red versus Blue. The Rebels busted out the bats in both contests with Blue taking the first game 10-4 Friday before the Red claimed Saturday’s contest 10-5.

“Much like the first weekend, the offense looked terrific,” noted head coach Mike Bianco. “Several guys really had good weekends. Cameron Dishon, Will Golson and Connor Cloyd all put together quality at-bats throughout the weekend.”

On Friday, it was the Blue team that broke open a back-and-forth battle, scoring seven unanswered runs for a 10-4 victory over the Red team. Every hitter in the Blue lineup recorded a hit in the eight-inning game, including four Rebels with multi-hit performances. Cleanup hitter Henri Lartigue went 2-for-4 with a team-high three RBI, while Colby Bortles added two hits, two runs and two RBI. Will Golsan crossed the plate three times to go along with his pair of hits. Alongside the veterans, freshman Ray Alejo smacked a triple as part of his multi-hit scrimmage; he also scored both times he reached base.

Securing the victory, two Blue pitchers kept the Red team scoreless for the final four innings of the contest. Freshman James McArthur tossed two scoreless innings of relief, and sophomore Will Stokes followed suit to match his teammate’s outing. The duo also did not allow a hit or walk, putting together four dominating frames.

For the Red, Dishon blasted two doubles to pace that side of the squad. Freshman utility player Ryan Olenek added two hits, one run and one RBI. Red did have some power at the plate as Michael Fitzsimmons left the yard for a solo home run. On the mound, freshman Dallas Woolfolk had the best outing for Red, giving up one run on two hits in a pair of innings.

Red and Blue faced off again on Saturday morning, and the offense continued to knock the cover off the ball. Notably, Dishon had another two-hit game, and Golsan went 3-for-5 scoring three runs with one RBI for Red. Blackman, Nic Perkins, Joe Wainhouse and Micah McHugh tallied two RBI apiece, helping propel the Red to their 10-5 Saturday victory.

Despite Blue taking the loss, their bats were hot with four players marking a multi-hit game. Cloyd went 3-for-5 with one RBI. Freshman DJ Miller also stood out, sending two Rebels across the dish on a two-out double to cut the Red lead. Miller notched two hits on the day with two RBI and one run.

Along with reaching double digits in runs, four of the five Red pitchers tossed scoreless outings to put together a balanced game for the squad.

“It is not often in intrasquad games where you can pitch really well and hit the ball,” said Coach Bianco. “We had guys come in and really pitch well. It is nice to see. Of course, Wyatt Short continues to do what he does. Austin Sanders pitched two scoreless innings and so did James McArthur. They just really looked dominant this weekend.”

The Rebels will continue fall practice by facing off against one another next weekend. Game times are still to be determined, but stay tuned to for updates on Twitter (@OleMissBSB) and the team’s Facebook page (Ole Miss Baseball).
