OXFORD, Miss. - Redshirt junior Sean Johnson took the mound and threw two innings of a simulated scrimmage as the Ole Miss baseball team continued fall practice this weekend. Although Johnson did not pitch in the two intrasquads, the tall right-hander looked sharp after completing his rehab from Tommy John surgery.

On Friday, the Blue team's red-hot bats powered them to a 9-5 victory. Blue tallied 16 hits throughout the nine-inning scrimmage with multi-hit performances from six hitters in the lineup. Sophomore Will Golsan led the way, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Junior J.B. Woodman recorded a pair of hits for a team-high three RBI. On the mound, freshman James McArthur tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four.

The Red lineup smacked 10 hits in the opening intrasquad. Colby Bortles, Nic Perkins and DJ Miller notched two hits apiece, with Bortles using two doubles to knock in two runs. The top pitching performance from Red came from freshman Andy Pagnozzi, who allowed one run on three hits over three innings of work.

In the final scrimmage of the weekend, Blue prevailed again with an 8-3 win. Freshman catcher Nick Fortes paced the squad with three RBI on two hits, while Perkins and Woodman both put together multi-hit games for the second time on the weekend. Connor Green and Will Stokes combined to pitch four consecutive scoreless frames of relief.

For the Red team, Miller once again was a leader at the plate, going 3-for3 with one run scored. Fresh off his birthday on Wednesday, junior Wyatt Short did not allow a baserunner in his two innings on the mound. The southpaw struck out four of the six hitters he faced during his outing.

Ole Miss will be back in action for another pair of intrasquads next weekend. Game times are still to be determined, but stay tuned to for updates on Twitter (@OleMissBSB) and Facebook (Ole Miss Baseball).
