Ole Miss vs. Auburn Post Game Quotes

Feb. 23, 2013

Recap |  Notes

On the performance of Marshall Henderson after not starting:
“He’s putting a lot of pressure on himself. We had a long talk after his 4-for-17 performance. Sometimes you can try too hard, especially when you make a living shooting from 27 or 28 feet. If you’re trying too hard, it works against you. I was just trying to slow him down a little bit. I started the five most veteran players we had in our program, the guys that had logged the most games in the Ole Miss uniforms.”

On the performance of the team:
“We were really locked in. Auburn has obviously had their struggles, but no one has done that to them. They’ve been competitive in all of their games. When you look at the league, there is very little separation when you get past Florida. Anybody can beat anybody on any night. For us, it was just about getting right. Obviously we’re discouraged by the fact that we dropped a couple of road games. I just wanted us to play well, and I thought the score would take care of itself. We were really locked in defensively. It was the best we had rebounded the ball in quite some time.”

On LaDarius White:
“When we recruited him, we challenged him. This is a perfect line for him, 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in 22 minutes. He guarded Frankie Sullivan and did a great job on one of the better scoring guards in our league. That’s the Snoop White that we need down the stretch.”

On NCAA Tournament Talk:
“If you watch college basketball, you can’t avoid it. It’s everywhere. We get into what we can control. The reality is, we have to control these next four games on our schedule. At the end of the day, the numbers have to make sense. As we’re playing and other teams are playing, numbers move day to day. We have to make sure we have enough under our belt to give us a chance.”
