"That's why we brought him here. We were deficient in shooting last year. We needed to remedy that and obviously, he is a good remedy. When we needed to make little spurt and needed to get some separation I thought he was very effective."
On improvements from exhibition:
"I thought we made some improvements. We continue to guard. In the exhibition we held them to under 30 percent shooting and tonight they were at 32 percent, and they got a lot of those in a stretch. We were better on the glass and we were turning people over. When you can score 93 points and shoot under 40 percent from the floor it shows you are active. We took 78 shots, we were very active."
"I think Anthony (Perez) can help us in a variety of ways. AJ (Aaron Jones) got an elbow to the head and we didn't want to take any chances. We played Anthony some at the four and he doesn't practice at the four, but he was able to rebound some for us. He's got some toughness at the basket. He can stretch the floor and make a shot. He's a versatile, talented player, just needs to get stronger and more comfortable in his role. Derrick (Millinghaus) was going so fast, but his ball speed collapses defenses and allows us to be able to make some plays in the open floor. He'll settle in and really be able to help us."
