OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss basketball players Reginald Buckner, Murphy Holloway and Derrick Millinghaus visited Bramlett Elementary School on Thursday to help promote National Child Abuse Prevention month.
The hoops trio teamed up with The Exchange Family Club of Oxford and Kappa Delta Sorority to raise awareness of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The group greeted the school children and spoke to them on the importance of speaking out against abuse. They also signed autographs, passed out stickers and posed for photos with The Exchange Family Club’s mascot, Stan (Stop The Abuse Now).
Among the students in attendance were several familiar faces, including Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork’s son, Payton, and Rebel assistant coach Al Pinkins’ son, Patton.
April was first declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential proclamation in 1983. Since then, April has been a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse.
