OXFORD, Miss. – Standout point guard Jerron Martin has signed a national letter of intent Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy announced on Wednesday. Martin will join the Rebels for the 2013-14 academic year.
A native of Prince George’s County in Maryland, Martin starred for Princeton Day School last season where he averaged 15.5 points per game and helped led the Strom to 33-13 record. The 6-1 point guard knocked down 54 3-pointers, shot 81-percent from the free throw line and earned first team All-CBAA tournament honors.
"Jerron is a high-character, talented guard who has the ability to create scoring opportunities off the dribble,” said Kennedy, the reigning SEC Coach of the Year. “His length and speed with the ball will complement our returning backcourt."
Martin joins fall signees Dwight Coleby, Janari Joesaar and Sebastian Saiz in the Rebels’ four-member freshmen class. Ole Miss tied the school record last season with 27 wins, captured the Rebels’ second SEC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for just the eighth time in school history last season.
