May 23, 2018

OXFORD, Miss. - Riley Allen is returning home. A strength and conditioning coach who earned a pair of degrees from Ole Miss, Allen comes back to Oxford to join the men's basketball staff after two seasons at Saint Louis University.

"I truly believe Riley Allen is one of the elite young strength and conditioning coaches in college basketball," said head men's basketball coach Kermit Davis. "Raised in Mississippi, Riley obviously has a deep affection for Ole Miss Athletics, and we look forward to fantastic progress this summer with our players."

Primarily working with the men's basketball program, Allen will serve as the strength and conditioning coach for one of the Ole Miss golf teams as well.

"First, I would like to thank (Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics) Ross Bjork, (Senior Associate A.D. for Health and Sports Performance) Shannon Singletary and Coach Davis for the incredible opportunity to return home and invest in my alma mater's athletic program," said Allen. "I have previous experience with the culture Coach Davis is going to instill here at Ole Miss and look forward to supporting that in every way possible. I cannot wait to get to work developing these great student-athletes."

Allen joined the Saint Louis University staff as the assistant director of athletics for sports performance in September 2016. He served as the department lead in the sports performance area, working specifically with the men's and women's basketball programs.

Prior to his time at SLU, Allen was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Mississippi State. Other previous stops include Middle Tennessee, Memphis, New Mexico State and Eastern Illinois.

Allen is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, earning a bachelor's degree in 2011 as well as a master's degree in 2013. He graduated from nearby Lafayette High School in 2008.
