EMERALD COAST CLASSIC CHAMPS
Junior G Stefan Moody scored a career-high 26 points, including 17 in the second half, as Ole Miss handed Cincinnati its first loss of the season with a 66-54 victory in the championship of the inaugural Emerald Coast Classic. The Rebels scored six straight points to break a 14-14 tie, retaining the lead the rest of the way. Ole Miss held Cincinnati in check offensively, as the Bearcats shot a season-low 30.4 percent from the floor and went almost 10 minutes without a field goal. It was the second-straight regular-season tournament title for Ole Miss. Moody was named the tournament MVP and senior G Jarvis Summers was named to the all-tournament team.
REBELS TAKE DOWN RANKED FOE
Senior G Jarvis Summers led the Rebels with 23 points, while fellow senior G LaDarius White added 18, including 16 in the second half, as Ole Miss defeated No. 23 Creighton 75-68 at the Emerald Coast Classic. Junior G Martavious Newby and senior G M.J. Rhett added nine points apiece for the Rebels. Summers was 9-of-10 at free-throw line and Newby was 4-of-4 - all in the final 20 seconds - as the Rebels finished 19-of-21 overall from the line. It marked Ole Miss' first win over a ranked opponent since knocking off No. 18 Wisconsin in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
MOODY BREAKS OUT
Junior G Stefan Moody scored a career-high 26 points, including 17 in the second half, as the Rebels knocked off Cincinnati to claim the Emerald Coast Classic crown. The junior college transfer was 9-of-17 (.529) from the floor and hit 3-of-7 (.429) from behind the arc in the game after starting the season shooting just 28.9 percent from the floor and hitting only 3-of-21 from 3.
Senior G LaDarius White scored 18 points off the bench in the Rebels' win over No. 23 Creighton, including 16 in the second half to spur the Ole Miss comeback. White was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field in the half including 2-for-2 from 3, and knocked down both free throw attempts. Ole Miss trailed the Bluejays by six at the half before White spurred the Rebels' comeback with a player efficiency rating of +21. White is averaging 13.0 ppg over his last five games and is shooting 59.0 percent (23-39) from the floor after starting the season just 2-of-9 from the field.
REBELS AGAINST JOHNSON
This marks the first time Ole Miss has faced Trent Johnson at TCU, however the Rebels squared off against a Johnson-coached LSU for four year from 2009-12. Ole Miss posted a 5-3 marked against the Tigers during that stretch, including winning four of the last five meetings.
OLE MISS VERSUS TCU
The Rebels are 3-1 all time against TCU winning the last three matchups with the Horned Frogs, including an 80-69 victory in Virgin Islands Paradise Jam in 2011. Ole Miss also knocked off TCU 66-64 in Jacksonville, Florida in 1984 and split a pair of games in 1976 with the home team winning each matchup.
REBELS VERSUS BIG 12
Ole Miss is 16-18 all-time versus current members of the Big 12, having faced every current member. The Rebels have faced Texas most often, owning a 6-8 record against the Longhorns. Head coach Andy Kennedy is 3-1 vs. the Big 12 at Ole Miss.
POWER CONFERENCE WINS
A win over TCU would give Ole Miss another win over a power conference after the Rebels posted victories over the AAC (Cincinnati) and Big East (Creighton) at the Emerald Coast Classic. It would also give the Rebels victories over teams from three different major conferences for the first time since 2011-12, when Ole Miss earned wins over the ACC (Miami), Big East (DePaul) and Big Ten (Penn State).
REBELS HITTING FREEBIES
Ole Miss ranks second in the SEC hitting 76.8 percent of its free throw attempts.
