Although having to split time in the spring between baseball and football, took advantage of injury situation in football to get a lot of reps ... Had some great practices ... Smart youngster who can play several positions ... Can play fullback, tailback, or split out wide in four-wide formation ... Tough player who runs hard ... Rushed for four yards and caught two passes in Red-Blue spring game.

2002: Non-scholarship player who has appeared in 6-of-12 games ... Earned his first letter ... Did not play versus Texas Tech (9/14) or Vanderbilt (9/21) ... Did not see action in the regular season's final four games against Auburn (11/2), Georgia (11/9), LSU (11/23) and Mississippi State (11/28) ... Carried twice for one yard against Arkansas State (10/12), marking his first career rushing attempts.

2001: Only action of the season came in the season opener against Murray State (9/1) ... After being a defensive back, was switched to wide receiver as he worked at split end in the spring.

During senior season, rushed for 750 yards and 14 TDs, completed 47-of-83 passes for 695 yards and 14 TDs, and had five pass receptions for 80 yards and one TD ... As a junior, had 850 yards rushing and 15 TDs and 775 yards passing, 70 tackles, four QB sacks, and three pass interceptions ... Helped lead West Monroe High to 13-2 record and 1996 state championship, 14-0 record in 1997, and national championship 15-0 record in 1998 ... Coached in high school by Don Shows ... Earned three letters in football and three in baseball ... Team won 1999 state championship in baseball ... Had .360 career batting average with 12 home runs and 97 RBI ... Was All-District, and All-Northeast Louisiana in baseball junior and senior years ... Academic All-State in football and baseball ... Northeast Louisiana Student of the Year ... North Louisiana-South Arkansas Scholar-Athlete of the Year ... With A+ average, ranked No. 1 in class ... National Honor Society, Class President, Student Council President, DARE role model, Salvation Army volunteer, and United Way Volunteer Corps ... Was featured in July 2000 issue of Sports Illustrated as one of 25 "Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year" national winners with judging based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership and community service, which earned him a $7,500 scholarship.
