Postgame Quotes

Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze
(Opening Statement)
“Obviously we’re very disappointed that we weren’t able to keep the game close and keep our fans
there. I thought that would be an advantage we would have late in the game if we could get in and the
place would’ve been electric. If we would have made enough plays offensively early in the game, we
might have been able to do that. We gave them some quick scores early because we didn’t take care of
the ball and did not play well defensively. I’m not taking anything away from Texas because they’re a
wonderful football team, very physical, very deep, with tremendous speed.”

“We didn’t play our best game. Whether or not it would have been good enough to be with them in the
fourth quarter I don’t know, but I sure would’ve liked for us to play a little better and take care of the
football. We’ve got to go to work and get better.”

Ole Miss Players

WR Donte Moncrief
On Texas:
“Their defense looked good. Their offense looked good. They’re just a good team and they play
together.”

On TD catches called back:
“That’s just something that we’ll work on every day. When the defensive line jumps, we have to be
ready to go with the ball. I turned around and wondered what was going on.”

On TD called back out of bounds:
“I just did everything in my power to make a play.”

On 75-yard TD catch:
“I had to make a big play and I just came up with it.”

On Bo Wallace:
“He threw the ball pretty well tonight. It was a big game with a loud crowd, so we’ll just come back
tomorrow and work harder.”

RB Jaylen Walton
On kickoff return for a TD:
“We were already down, I just wanted to keep our team up and make a play, and I was blessed enough
to be able to take it back.”

LB Denzel Nkemdiche
Tough loss against one of the nation’s top teams. What do you feel you guys can improve on for next
week?
“We have to get back to the film room and listen to what our coaches have us do during the week. We
have to tackle better and just play football better.”

S Charles Sawyer
Tough loss against one of the nation’s top teams. What do you feel you guys can do to rebound for
next week?
“We have to just come back to work tomorrow, learn from it and move forward.”

Texas Head Coach Mack Brown
On the game:
“I think our guys were extremely motivated and came out and played well. Our defense set the tone
early and our offense followed. We gave up several big plays, but overall we played well.”

Grading on a curve:
“Like I said, we played well. Our defense was in the right position. Donte Moncrief is just a good player
and we knew that coming in. Moncrief, Wallace and Scott are all great athletes.”

On the tempo:
“I was a little surprised by the tempo, I knew our offense was quick, but make no mistake Ole Miss’
offense was quick as well. They moved the ball up and down the field well. I was proud to see our guys
not back down.”

Texas Players

QB David Ash
On the game:
“The game was won up front, and our offense dominated this game. That was the reason we were able
to be successful. That’s why we’ve been playing really well.”

DE Alex Okafor
On Offense:
“Whenever you get 66 points on a team , you know the offense was very prepared for this week. They
just executed the game, they went out and dominated. They helped the defense out a lot by keeping us off the field.”
