Postgame Notes: Ole Miss at LSU

• This was the 106th all-time meeting between Ole Miss and LSU ... The Tigers now lead the series 60-41-4 all-time and 40-24-1 in Baton Rouge.

• In the ninth edition of the Magnolia Bowl that began in 2008, LSU takes a 5-4 lead.

GENERAL NOTES

• Attendance at Tiger Stadium was 101,720.

• This is the first time Ole Miss has had a losing record after seven games since 2011, the year before Hugh Freeze arrived.

• Ole Miss’ record vs. top-25 opponents falls to 69-153-2 all-time and 11-16 under Freeze ... The Rebels are now 1-4 vs. ranked teams this season.

• The Rebels failed to score 30 points for the first time this season.

• With no points in the second half, this was the first time Ole Miss was held scoreless in a half since the first half at Florida on Oct. 3 last year.

• Ole Miss falls to 7-2 after a loss over the last three seasons.

• The Rebels fall to 32-8 under Freeze when they score first.

• The Rebels now own an all-time record of 658-508-35 (.562 winning percentage) and a 37-22 record under Freeze (.627 winning percentage).

OFFENSIVE NOTES

• It was a tale of two halves for the Rebel offense, which had 13 first downs, 221 yards and 21 points in the first half to six first downs, 104 yards and no points in after the break.


 

 

• The Rebels converted all three red-zone attempts in the game and have now converted 31 of 33 chances this season.

• Senior QB Chad Kelly completed 19 of 32 passes for 209 yards with one TD and two INTs ... He added a team-high 56 rushing yards on 12 attempts.

• Kelly extended his own school record with his 20th consecutive game throwing a TD pass ... He was tied for the third-longest active streak among FBS players entering the weekend.

• Kelly passed John Fourcade into third in school history in career total offense (6,869) and moved into a tie with Jevan Snead for third in passing TDs (46).

• Senior RB Akeem Judd ran 13 times for 39 yards and a TD, his fourth of the season and seventh of his career.

• Redshirt-freshman Van Jefferson had four catches for 43 yards and scored his second TD of the season with a 15-yarder in the first quarter.

• Junior WR Damore’ea Stringfellow caught four passes for a game-high 92 yards.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

• The Ole Miss defense posted two sacks and a season-high 10 tackles for loss.

• Junior DE Marquis Haynes had three tackles and recovered a fumble, his second straight game recovering a turnover (INT last week) ... He also had a huge sack fumble in the second quarter that led to a Rebel touchdown that tied the score at 21 just before halftime.

• Sophomore LB Detric Bing-Dukes posted a team-high eight tackles and 2.0 TFLs.

• Senior DB Derrick Jones had three tackles and his second INT of the season.

• Sophomore DE Victor Evans forced a fumble for the first time in his career and also had a TFL.

• Freshman DB Jaylon Jones made three tackles and recovered a fumble for the first time in his career.

• Junior LB DeMarquis Gates recorded seven tackles, including his fourth sack of the season.

• Senior LB Temario Strong had six tackles and a career-high 2.5 TFLs ... Of his five career TFLs, four have come against LSU.

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES

• Junior K/P Gary Wunderlich made both of his field goal attempts, a season-long 46-yarder and a 22-yarder ... He moved into a tie with Tim Montz for sixth in school history with 35 career FGs made.

• Senior Carlos Davis returned six kicks for a career-high 124 yards and two punts for 16 yards.
