Final Stats |  Notes

Ole Miss Head Coach Houston Nutt

Opening comments
"This is a very difficult situation. We were up at the beginning, we felt good about that with 7-0. After that it just went down. I thought our defense played extremely hard and gave us a chance, but you have to score points. Randall Mackey was not at his best tonight. We need for him to be at his best. It was just bad. It was a bad deal."

On losing momentum
"I feel like it started going down when Randall Mackey fumbled on the option and Louisiana Tech picked it up and ran it in for a touchdown."

On switching to Zack Stoudt
"We were trying to find something to get going. We were just trying to find a spark. When the guy we were counting on to be our playmaker wasn't working out, we were trying to find something to spark us a little bit."

On the atmosphere
"These kids are in a tough situation. I thought at times they played pretty hard. I know our defense played extremely hard, they played well enough to win in the first three quarters. We put them in some bad situations. You have to score points. In our league the bottom line is you have to score points."

On issues with the offense
"I've been disappointed. I thought we would be much better by this time. We get going and then have a player come out and then your quarterback is not hitting on all cylinders. You have to have your playmakers make plays. There were some missed blocks. There was way too much pressure on the quarterback. They were in our backfield too fast, that should not happen that quick."

Ole Miss Players

Ole Miss Running Back Brandon Bolden

On touchdown catch
"It came out just how we worked in practice. It was an easy throw for Randall to make, so it was an easy throw and catch like we do before the game."

On game
"It's just the way the ball bounced. It just wasn't bouncing our way this game, and it hasn't been bouncing our way the whole season; so, we just have to go out there and keep fighting."

On season
"I'm surrounded by a great group of guys, and we have some very good coaches out there.  Everything isn't supposed to go your way.  That's why we go out there and play football. It's about the way you show up, and how you react. That's what football is about."

On LSU
"They're a great group of guys.  They have a very fast defense and explosive offense; so, if we can match their intensity it should be a pretty good game."

Ole Miss Linebacker Serderius Bryant

"All I know is that I'm going to finish strong for my football coach. I feel like we really need the people that are going to finish and get the job done out here.  We need to let Coach Nutt leave on a good note instead of a bad one.  I've got a lot left in me; I've got three more years at Ole Miss."

Ole Miss Corner Back Wesley Pendleton

"I'm tired of losing.  We've got to finish strong.  We need to swallow our pride and plow hard, and send Coach Nutt out on a good note."

On next week's game
"It's going to be a dogfight.  It's always motivating when the number one team comes in.  We're going to play hard and do what we do."

Louisiana Tech Head Coach Sonny Dykes

On the win
"I thought it was a good win for us, obviously coming up here and winning on the road against a good football team is never easy to do. I thought we played really well defensively, our guys flew around the whole night. We played with a lot of confidence and we played fast. I was really proud of our guys for forcing a lot of turnovers and scoring on those. That was a big part of the game. Offensively, I felt like we missed some opportunities in the first half, but we did enough to have a chance to win.

On defensive effort of the last five games of the winning streak and turnovers
"I think the biggest difference is we're taking care of the ball a little better offensively. We had two turnovers today, one of which was kind of bad right there at the end. Then creating turnovers at the rate that we've created them has really enabled us to have a chance to win and to score some points. Those guys are really playing with a lot of confidence. It all starts with their effort and preparation. They're flying around and getting the football, doing a lot of good things. Defensively, I've been really proud of what we're doing."

Louisiana Tech Players

Chad Boyd #31

On LA Tech's defense
"We knew coming into the game that we were trying to minimize as much as possible the big plays and hopefully make them drive through the field.  We knew that they had not been successful at driving through so that was our main emphasis."

On interception for touchdown
"We had a blitz called and two guys motioned.  I was coming over to pick up the third guy and tie him over on the backside.  By that time, he called the play and I saw the run.  He got hit, the ball popped out and I saw the end zone."

Colby Cameron #10

On Ole Miss
"They had a good scheme this game.  They were mixing it up a lot.  We weren't used to what they were running.  Once we started to get comfortable, we started flowing more."

On winning in an SEC stadium
"It was awesome to get bowl eligible.  At Louisiana Tech we are trying to start a name for ourselves and getting bowl eligible is part of that.  Winning against the SEC, one of the best conferences that there is, was an exciting feeling."

On first touchdown
"We scrambled and felt a little pressure trying to get out of the pocket.  I saw a couple guys down there and they all kind of blended into the background.  I tried to throw it out of bounds or give my guy a shot and he came up with it.  I did not see the end of the play because I got hit, but I heard people cheering and knew it was a good thing."
