Marquis Haynes Joins Ole Miss Football Team

OXFORD, Miss. - New members of the Ole Miss football program continue to arrive on campus, and the latest is freshman defensive end Marquis Haynes.

Haynes started winter intersession classes this week and will begin practicing with the team during the spring semester. He will be a true freshman in 2014 with five years to play four for the Rebels.

A 6-foot-3, 225-pounder from Fork Union Military Academy, Haynes is a consensus 3-star recruit and the No. 6 prep school prospect in the country according to He is listed as the top prep school defensive end by both 247 and Haynes had 16 sacks, nine forced fumbles and an interception this past year at Fork Union. Originally part of North Carolina's 2013 signing class, Haynes is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and played his high school ball at University Christian School, where he led his team to the Florida 2A state title as a senior.

As previously announced, freshman DB C.J. Hampton, (Meridian, Miss. / Meridian HS) and redshirt freshman OL Christian Morris (Memphis, Tenn. / Memphis East / UCLA) have also begun classes at Ole Miss. Other members of the Rebel newcomer class expected to join the program this month include junior OL Fahn Cooper (Crystal Lake, Ill. / College of DuPage / Bowling Green), freshman QB Kendrick Doss (Florence, Ala. / Florence HS), sophomore ATH Jeremy Liggins (Oxford, Miss. / Northeast Mississippi CC) and junior LB Christian Russell (Fayetteville, N.C. / East Mississippi CC).
