NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ole Miss Rebels’ 2014 Southeastern Conference opener against Vanderbilt on Saturday, Sept. 6 will be staged in Nashville’s LP Field.

Officials from the Vanderbilt and Ole Miss athletic departments jointly announced the LP Field venue for the 89th meeting between the schools.

The Rebels’ first two games of the 2014 season will be played at NFL stadiums. The Aug. 28 season opener vs. Boise State will be held at the Georgia Dome, home of the Atlanta Falcons. LP Field is home to the Tennessee Titans.

Ole Miss has enjoyed much recent success in Tennessee’s capital city, including the 2013 SEC Basketball Tournament Championship and football season bookend victories over Vanderbilt in the 2013 opener (39-35) and Georgia Tech in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 at LP Field (25-17).

The game at LP Field will be the first between the Commodores and Rebels played off campus since 1966 when the teams met in Jackson, Miss. Seven early games in the series that dates to 1894 were played in Memphis.

Ole Miss leads the all-time series against Vanderbilt 48-38-2. The last two games between the teams have been decided in the final seconds, with Vanderbilt capturing a 27-26 victory at Ole Miss in 2012 and the Rebels returning the favor 39-35 last year in Nashville.

The two schools have played every year since 1970. Ole Miss has faced only two other schools, Mississippi State and LSU, more frequently than Vanderbilt in football.

The rest of the 2014 Ole Miss schedule includes SEC home games against Alabama (Oct. 4), Tennessee (Oct. 18), Auburn (Nov. 1) and Mississippi State (Nov. 29). Non-conference home games are Louisiana-Lafayette (Sept. 13), Memphis (Sept. 27) and Presbyterian (Nov. 8).

SEC road games include Texas A&M (Oct. 11), LSU (Oct. 25) and Arkansas (Nov. 22).
