With 14 Practices Under Its Belt Ole Miss Turns Its Attention To The Red-Blue Game
April 5, 2006 OXFORD, Miss. - After another solid afternoon of work on the practice fields adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Wednesday, the Ole Miss Rebel football team will turn its attention to Saturday's final practice of the spring, the Red-Blue Game. "We are 14 days in now," said Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron. "Again today we had some really good things happen today in practice. Every day I see a difference in the mentality of the offense. I see it going in a new direction and I am happy with it. "On defense today I saw a lot of improvement from Hayward Howard. We moved Brandon Jenkins to nose tackle and he did some things there and Peria Jerry has been dominant all spring." In addition to some positive things happening on the field, Orgeron was pleased to announce the plans for Saturday's scrimmage. "Another good thing that happened today is we split up the teams for the Red-Blue Game," said Orgeron. "Frank Wilson will coach the Blue team, which will consist of the first team offense and second team defense, while Art Kehoe will be in charge of the Red team, which is the first team defense and the second team offense. "We split the coaching staffs up and I think it will be fun. We will go ones against the ones and twos versus the twos. We will do a little bit of kicking in between, but the kicking won't be connected to the game." Tickets for the Red-Blue Game cost $10 each, with Ole Miss students admitted free with a valid University I.D. card. All seating will be general admission and located on the East and West sides of the stadium. Stadium gates on the East and West sides will open at noon. Red-Blue tickets are on sale at the Athletic Ticket Office, located in C.M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum. On Saturday, game tickets may be purchased in the Grove, plus at the game-day Ticket Office, located next to the stadium on All-American Drive. Orgeron and the Rebels are looking forward to the festivities. "Both teams will be fired up," said Orgeron. "We want to have fun on Saturday and we know it will be very competitive." |
