OXFORD, Miss. -- On the eve of the first day of classes, the Ole Miss football team went through a light practice Sunday to review the highs and lows from Saturday's scrimmage, which attracted approximately 6,000 fans to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The Rebels studied the film early in the day before training for an hour in helmets and shorts Sunday evening on the practice fields.

“I saw some good things in the scrimmage but also saw some things we need to improve. I’m still impressed with our young people,” said head coach Houston Nutt, who singled out freshmen Donte Moncrief, C.J. Johnson, Nickolas Brassell, Senquez Golson, Cody Prewitt and Aaron Morris.

“Now we turn our heads to BYU, and we have to get ready.”

After 19 practices over the past two-plus weeks, the players shift their focus to the classroom, as the fall semester begins Monday on the Oxford campus.

“Now we start our regular weekly routine for the season,” Nutt said. “Monday is an off day. It’s time to be a student and start the first day of school right. As a staff, we’ll get familiar with BYU film, have a good plan ready for Tuesday and get them going.”

The Rebels and Cougars open the 2011 campaign Sept. 3 at 3:45 p.m. A limited number of season tickets remain available on the OleMissSports.com ticket site or by calling 1-888-732-8587.
